Facilities Technician - Rockford Construction

Office Location: 601 First Street NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504 (travel limited to downtown Grand Rapids, MI)

Position Classification: Full-Time Regular


**Sign on bonus of $500.00 to be paid after 60 days of employment.


About This Opportunity

As the Facilities Technician, you will undertake the responsibility to preserve the good condition and functionality of Rockford Construction's commercial and residential properties. A Technician is a thorough professional with a practical mind and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be able to work autonomously and responsibly by observing all health and safety guidelines at all times and successfully complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner. The goal is to maintain the buildings and common areas in the best possible condition. This position reports directly to the Lead Maintenance Technician.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years working in a facility maintenance role or similar.

  • Residential and commercial property management experience preferred.

  • A minimum of a high school diploma.

  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Travel limited to downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan.

  • The ability to participate in a rotating on-call schedule.

  • Experience in the general inspections of properties/buildings and maintaining inspection logs for fire inspection systems, cooling tower treatments, generator inspections, and maintaining logs in compliance with all federal, state and city regulations.

  • Grounds clean up, such as trash removal, snow removal and dispersing salt on sidewalks.

  • Familiarity with commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the facility maintenance field.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate and supervise vendors (plumbers, electricians, etc.)

  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills and management of multiple tasks at once.

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) 365.

 

Bonus Skills and Experience:

  • Web-based work order and/or Yardi experience.

  • Certifications such as HVAC, Building Maintenance Technology, First AId and CPR.

Environmental Factors

The work environment for this position is a mix of a typical office environment and visits to construction project sites. Requires physical ability to climb ladders and heavy lifting at times. When in the office, the physical demands require the ability to sit for long periods of time. Intermittent movement will be necessary to perform requirements of the position such as accessing centrally located office equipment. Visits to construction project sites may involve travel. Site visits may subject the individual to hazards commonly associated with construction sites. Examples of physical hazards include noise, proximity to moving vehicles, atmospheric conditions, close quarters, uneven surfaces, and elevated surfaces. The individual may also be subjected to outside environmental conditions (weather) where protection may not be available.
